Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

On December 8, 2022 at the British Embassy in Riga, the British Ambassador to Latvia Paul Brummel unveiled a portrait of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by Ritums Ivanovs. The artist drew this portrait in June 2022 to honour the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee. The unveiling, however, took place half a year later in altogether different circumstances.
The Embassy houses a large selection of works by UK artists and only a few select Latvian works of art, now also a drawing by Ritums Ivanovs. The British Embassy in Riga maintains and develops relations between the UK and Latvia. Mr Paul Brummell CMG was appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia in July 2021. Previously he was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Romania from 2014 until 2018 and has served as High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. The event was attended by international diplomats, art people and business sector, including Mrs. Adriana Ivama Brummell, Visiting Fellow at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the wife of Ambassador Mr. Brummell.
